Edinburgh Museums and Galleries

Client: Culture and Sport, City of Edinburgh

Project: Environmental monitoring

Installation of networked Hanwell systems for the Council’s museum sites.



Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh.

Client: Harley Haddow Consulting Engineers

Project: Refurbishment of SNPG, including better provision of collections care. Development of proposals for environmental control and monitoring at the Portrait Gallery, liasing with Gallery conservation staff on behalf of Harley Haddow Engineers


Holyrood Palace         

 Client: Historic Scotland

 Project: improvement of energy efficiency

 Installation of Hanwell RH/T sensors as part of BMS upgrade to provide humidity-based environmental  control and ensure energy efficiency.



National Trust for Scotland

Client: National Trust for Scotland

Project: Environmental Management

Development of annual Environmental Monitoring Reports for 24 historic houses, including analysis of monitoring data and recommendations for improvements.


Abbotsford House, Galashiels

Client: LDN Architects for Jura Consultants, Abbotsford Trust.

Project: Refurbishment of Abbotsford House and creation of new Visitor Centre.

Preparation of HLF application for refurbishment of Abbotsford House: development of Conservation Management Plan in partnership with Will Murray, the Scottish Conservation Studio, for HLF application.

Development and management of Collections Project Plan, including documentation, collection decant, off-site storage, conservation and support of project conservator throughout.


Rosslyn Chapel, Roslin

Client: Harley Haddow Consulting Engineers.

Project: Restoration of Rosslyn Chapel.

Input in development of appropriate approach to

environmental control using heating, liaising with

specialist conservators on behalf of Harley Haddow Engineers.


Mount Stuart

Client: Mount Stuart Trust

Project: Hanwell Installation

Supply and commissioning of Hanwell radio telemetrysystem monitoring 60 locations on site.


Museum of the Isles

Client: Clan Donald Lands Trust

Project: Replacement environmental control

Assessment of requirements for environmental control and design of new heating system, together with Harley Haddow Engineers


Dunfermline Museum, Fife Council

Client: Fife Council Museums Service.

Project: New museum and art gallery.

Development of Conservation Management Plan for the collections of Dunfermline Museum, in partnership with Will Murray, The Scottish Conservation Studio.


Dunblane Museum Extension

Client: Dunblane Museum.

Project: Extension of Dunblane Museum.

Collections Care consultant on HLF-supported project to create an extension to the museum to contain new display and storage areas, as well as refurbishment of existing displays. Input in development of project briefs and specifications

Kinneil House

Client: Historic Scotland

Project: Environmental control

Supply of humidistat control equipment for heating systems at a number of Historic Scotland properties, including Kinneil House, Arbroath Abbey Abbots House and Abbey Hill Cornmill


Glasgow School of Art (GSA) – MacIntosh Building

Client: Harley Haddow Consulting Engineers/Page & Park Architects.

Project: Collections Care input in Stage 2 HLF application.Delivery of collections and conservation input, liaising with GSA staff, as part of Harley Haddow team.


Lews Castle/Museum nan Eilean, Stornoway   

Client: LDN Architects

Project Stage 1: Preparation of HLF application for refurbishment of Lews Castle.

Development of Conservation Management Plan on collections of Museum nan Eilean.

In partnership with Will Murray, The Scottish Conservation Studio.


Scottish Borders Museums Service

Client: Scottish Borders Council

Project: Environmental Monitoring, Training

Assessment of environmental monitoring practices at SBC museums, development of environmental monitoring programme and staff training, supply and commissioning of 14 Hanwell systems,  delivery of training in Environmental Monitoring & Control and Hanwell Radiolog 8 software.


Moray Art Centre, Findhorn

Client: Moray Art Centre.

Project: Environmental control for exhibition loans programme.Environmental assessment of gallery spaces in award-winning eco building. Advise on improvement of environmental control using sustainable approach to fit the ethos and principles of the Centre.
